  • Innovative UHPC Steel Beam End Repair; Pilot Project Using Research from UConn
  • Coordination with Research Team
  • Coordination with AMTRAK

GM2’s solution to Bridge No. 03094’s extensive beam end deterioration entailed the construction of 4 simple spans with a steel girder superstructure and the use of, the first of its kind, Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) to encase the deteriorated beam ends. Bridge No. 03094 has an overall length of 273FT, a curb-to-curb width of approximately 131FT, and an ADT of 133,900. Extensive coordination with Amtrak and the maintenance and protection of traffic was critical to this project’s success.
