GM2’s replacement design is comprised of a clear span concrete rigid frame on step pile foundations. The bridge carries 11-foot bidirectional travel lanes with two 2-foot shoulders. In order to minimize slope grading and environmental impacts, U-type wingwalls were used. All footings are supported on steel friction piles. The roadway profile was raised to provide one foot of freeboard with minimal roadway approach reconstruction.
