The Beacon Street Roadway and Streetscape Improvement is a safety improvement project that uses Complete Streets principles to redistribute the available right‐of‐way more equitably for all users; motor vehicles, mass transit, bicycles and pedestrians for the Beacon Street corridor that runs from Oxford Street to the Cambridge City line.

The project is the City’s first cycle track and the first MassDOT-funded project that includes a cycle track. Complete project design was provided (25% Design to final PS&E), as well as assistance in acquiring the necessary right‐of‐way and with funding. 

The additional travel land width and cycle track width were direct results of the community and regulatory process.
