GM2 is a fast-growing firm with over 150 employees with offices in CT, MA, NH, RI and FL. GM2 is offering an opportunity for a project liaison/administrator to join our talented, multi-disciplinary team in our Glastonbury, CT office.
You will be part of GM2’s team involved in the management and delivery of bridge improvement projects on behalf of the CT Department of Transportation (CTDOT). Acting as an extension of CTDOT engineering staff under their Consultant Liaison Bridge Program, GM2 provides administrative and technical support to CTDOT, oversees and coordinates with consultant engineering firms, and manages project activities, schedules and budgets. The position requires a blend of strengths, including technical, communication, organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills. You will answer directly to and work closely with an experienced GM2 project manager.
On the technical side, you will be responsible for working with and coordinating the work of various GM2 technical professionals in the preparation of project studies involving structural engineering, traffic engineering, roadway design, hydraulics, environmental permitting, geotechnical engineering and utility coordinators. On the administrative side, you will be responsible for assisting the project manager in overseeing project design progress and final delivery, managing project schedules and costs, preparing project documents and correspondence, and working closely with CTDOT’s project manager and project engineer.
Responsibilities
Work closely with GM2’s program and project managers and discipline leaders and assist project manager in oversight of project development, including scope, schedule and cost
Act as project liaison engineer for several projects simultaneously
Assist in the preparation of structural concepts and reports involving the assessment of alternative structural concepts and preliminary engineering of project solutions and cost estimates
Perform technical analyses and recommend resolution of technical and non-technical issues
Perform primary coordination activities with internal team members and CTDOT personnel
Review progress design submissions prepared by other consultants and vendors
Prepare written documents and correspondence
Prepare written documents and correspondence
Assist preparation of presentations for public meetings
Perform project site visits within Connecticut
The following added qualifications are desirable
Professional Engineer License (PE) in Connecticut or ability to obtain within 6 months
Bridge design experience
Experience with FHWA/State project delivery processes; CTDOT State/Federal Local Bridge Program
Experience in roadway and/or bridge projects for CTDOT or similar agency
Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills and initiative
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required
Minimum 5-10 years of project experience
Working knowledge of standard office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam)
Ability to work well in team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills and organization and time management skills required
