Mechanical Engineer

RZ Design Associates, a GM2 company, is seeking mechanical engineers who will be responsible for the development of mechanical system construction documents, including both drawings and specifications, for various projects throughout New England from schematic design through construction administration. This position is available for our Rocky Hill, CT office or our Tampa, FL office. Responsibilities Studies and investigations of mechanical systems, field investigations, and client interface. Performing field work, including documentation and drafting tasks as needed to produce contract documents. Interface with clients and assist in business development efforts as needed. Maintain and utilize up-to-date working knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications, including but not limited to Revit and AutoCAD. Prepare technical drawings, specifications, reports, and documentation detailing mechanical systems Work independently on new or retrofit projects for Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and mechanical systems for various types of facilities such as commercial, retail, office buildings, and housing Run building thermal load calculations and perform HVAC equipment selection, and air distribution layout for various types of HVAC systems Select equipment fot use in building systems Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines/companies Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them. Perform initial field investigation and construction inspection to support the Construction Administrator (if necessary) Perform related or similar duties as required or assigned. Qualifications 3-5 years of experience preferred Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred but not required. Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering design software Proven interest in working in the field of mechanical systems EIT or PE license in a New England state or Florida preferred, or ability to earn within 6 months MEP design firm related experience Excellent written and communication skills Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects Valid driver's license.
